No just a casual dining locale
Open for inside seating now. Ordering just alcohol at the bar area is not allowed yet, and is for overflow seating to include food.
Best pancake I have ever had BIG and very fluffy
I had bacon and eggs— totally standard diner fare. The pancakes were another story though. A short stack was actually unmanageable; delicious but GIANT.
Good food for good prices
Good food and freindly styles love the meatlovers omlet
Great prices even better food
Sitting here with my friend, having adult beverages...Gotta love the local vibe and people.
Friendly staff decent place, food wasn't that great.
We gave it a second shot and we're highly disappointed. The service was subpar and we were received with attitude and poor service. The only thing worth getting again was the lukewarm coffee. All of the food, though affordable, was not well made. My omelette had excessive oil and wasn't even warm when served. The biscuits and gravy were also off putting. We won't be going for round 3 after this last experience.
Good food at a fair price. They even have senior special.
Great food, friendly service, reasonable prices and supporting local economy...this place is a sure bet!
First time there. Real present, family type bar with their eats next door. Good crowd n friendly tenders. Nice
Great local spot. Reasonable prices and plenty of options. Not fine dining, but worth a stop. The staff is professional, attentive and welcoming. The bar shows sports and popular series as many people don't have TV at home here in the jungle. Lots of laughter and hugs all around.
people not wearing masks. takeut food is good
Ordered the seafood plater and I was not impressed. Came with 2 pieces each of fish, shrimp, oysters, scallops and 2 scoops of mashed potatoes. They totally forgot to add my clams, tartar sauce and cocktail. Was charged almost $17 for a plate of food that should have been only $10. Mashed potatoes tasted like it was from a box. I gave them a tip but when I arrived to my house and saw what I ordered I regreted tipping them. DO NOT ORDER THE SEAFOOD PLATER OR ANY FRIED SEAFOOD.
This is everyone's bar back home! Burgers are killer! Beer is cheap! Service is impeccable!
The staff and their food is great! Helpful, Happy, Considerate of everyone. Always ALOHA!!!😎
Stopped here on our way to our rental house. 5 dinners all very happy with the service and the food was great. Alot of fried food, so if you're health conscious maybe not the place for you. Staff was very friends and service was prompt. Will be back again.
Good casual dinning. Most times the food is like home cooked, Ono grinds. 🙂
Comfort food in the extreme. Try it once and you will certainly be back. The place is spotless with great service and food.
Service great, good portions, fresh fish was made perfect! Very down home feel to restaurant and bar next door.
Breakfast is great here.. Here is my all time favorite dish to order there.
Very nice staff and good food!
This place is a dump, bugs crawling around and food is not very good
Burgers divine!
Great place great food friendly atmosphere. Portion sizes for generous prices were fair for the portions served.Excellent variety in choice of meal a meat, a fish vegetable. My companion steak was excellent and cooked exactly as ordered (rare). My seafood was as described albeit lacking in the shrimp and scallop and oyster detail. It had everything described but in very disproportionate quantities. I should have gone for the fried platter, but that's more personal preference rather than a gripe in the quality department. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes served. Our service was quick though the restaurant was not particularly busy.Would recommend, will be going back to try their Pizza. Their chefs are from Chicago and if there's anything Chicago does well, it's Pizza. Having grown up there I know that to be true.
My breakfast arrived at the table, minus the hash browns. I assumed that she was going to bring them on a second plate and refill my coffee. 40 minutes later no hash browns or coffee and nobody is paying attention to me trying to get their attention. At last someone brought me coffee, I asked about the hash browns but was told that they didn't come with my breakfast, I said yes I know that is why I asked for them too. The girl who was rude beyond belief said " They don't come with your breakfast and that I should leave." They are so used to being the only thing around, they forgot that they need us more than we need them. Thank goodness the new shopping center is opening soon and we will finally have options for restaurants and bars and this place can go out of business!
Good food, friendly staff, reasonable price.
fried seafood appetizer plate was overcooked, oysters we're *not* good. Steak was cooked correctly, tender, tasty. Mashed potatoes were very good. French fries were a little undercooked.BBQ Short Ribs we're great.
Nice service, very dry fish.
This is a great place in Pahoa. Family style restaurant with great menu & very reasonable prices. I went there with friends tonight. I had liver and onions with mashed potatoes and gravy. Some people don't care for liver and very few places serve it. But these folks do it just right. Better than mother used to make. Ono!
Decent cafe serves all 3 meals. Also has an attached bars conveniently located in old Pahoa town. Ordering by phone took longer than expected but was made fresh. Prices are in line with everywhere else. Good sandwich & kahlua pork🐷-delicious.
I like having dinner here on evenings they have entertainment at 7pm Thurs. & Friday nights. I arrive about 5-5:30pm so I can take my time with dinner & done early enough to grab an open chair right next door in their bar. They serve great Pupu's in the bar also good variety listed on menu.
DON'T go to THE LAVA SHACK in Pahoa..Go here INSTEAD!!!! Much nicer folks...better prices.. And, yes did I mention that they have the BEST Bloody Mary's and Eggs Benedict for BREAKFAST ???? Excellent!
Nice place to have breakfast! The foo was delicious and the service was really good.
Waited 1 hour to find out they forgot one of our two orders. When they finally brought our food it was cold and greasy. We gave it back and will never go back.
Bartender Pat is the bestStiff affordable drinksAlways friendly Tip big!!!
The perfect breakfast, lunch, and dinner place. Truly local, truly delicious. It feels like coming to eat with family always. There are no wrong choices on the menu! Try the Florentine omelette!
It's in pahoa, old hippy town, old shops. And it's great, and they serve beer and liquor. The food and service is marvelous. Also fair prices
Really good , great bar drink prices and good food. Didn’t think the fried rice would come with bacon and eggs in it but it was okay. Cheeseburger is really thick and fries was good.
could improve customer service. don't ASSUME that you know who comes into your establishment is not who you wish to serve. your business will suffer because of this. right now .... NO LOCAL BUSINESS CAN AFFORD TO ACT LIKE THIS...
This place is my go-to whenever I'm in Pahoa. Pros: Wonderful staff, very friendly atmosphere. Food didn't disappoint (I've been there a couple times). Convenient hours. More parking than most places. Clean. Kid friendly!Cons: I can't think of any.
Service isn't the best and not always clean... But for a local spot, it works.
Good food at the right price and great service
I ordered a #9 for breakfast. 2 eggs over easy spam and biscuits and gravy. The eggs were bland and cooked thoroughly. The spam was good but could have been cooked more. The biscuits and gravy were bland and boring. The coffee was good! I like BlackRock especially there pizzas!! However they get three stars for the mediocre food.
Excellent service & food. The teriyaki beef sandwich was awesome. The last time I had a sandwich like this was in the 60's. Also was reasonably priced. Will definitely stop here again.
Stopped here passing by while on our honeymoon. Ordered the french dip sandwich and the hubby ordered teriyaki steak. His meat was the most disgusting pile of fat and questionable meat ever. He loves his steak, but this meat that was served was not edible. We ended up eating snacks from the 711 across the street for lunch instead of the food from Black Rock Cafe. I would not eat here again.
Black Rock has fast and friendly service and the food comes out perfect. Glad they are back open for indoor seating.
Great food at a reasonable rate.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Big portions and the best veggie Benedict I've ever had
